The Prada Fall 2016 campaign is one to note this season as the Italian luxury brand chose to feature an unexpectedly incredible number of 27 models to showcase the collection. This proves nine times more the number of models than Pradas previous campaign. The reasoning linked to this method was so that a single face cannot be linked with Pradas latest collection. The genius in this modern thought produces a campaign alongside a collection that collectively is possibly as a result, the most universal and versatile collection yet. By nature, this campaign represents a quite forward way of thinking is modernizing the long standing, traditional fashion campaign that selects one fortuned face to represent a brand for a season.
The campaign was photographed by Steven Meisel and featured designs by Miuccia Prada in a collaged, futuristic manner. The models were styled maximally in Prada replica handbags collection pieces. The models were placed against abstract, galactic backdrops in an almost cut-and-paste aesthetic. The campaign ads showcased the ready-to-wear collection, accessories collection, including the footwear collection. In referencing the collection in show notes, Miuccia Prada commented, We need to understand who we are today. Everything is symbolic. It is like a collage of what is happy or painful, of whether you are feeling beautiful or horrible, when you have love or no love. In expressing the aesthetic of women she went on to comment, The nature of women is complex and ineffable…like a Russian doll placed inside one another.
This expressed inspiration is reflected in the Fall/Winter 2016 collection referenced in the spoken campaign. The collection represents that of the travels of a vagabond, whether physical or spiritually within. The collection as a whole looks like a period piece, with historical references, sailor references and even nods to World War II. Prada replica brought in artist, Christophe Chemin to make painted prints for the garments, based on the French revolutionary reordering of the calendar.
The Prada Fall 2016 campaign itself featured models Roos Abels, Noemie Abigail, Vanessa Axente, Yoon Young Bae, Lexi Boling, Vittoria Ceretti, Danielle Ellsworth, Freja Beha Erichsen, Angelica Erthal, Sara Dijkink, Paulina Frankowska, Amanda Googe, Caitie Greene, Ondria Hardin, Milla Jovovich, Lorena Maraschi, Amanda Murphy, Londone Myers, Julia Nobis, Marina Perez, Sasha Pivovarova, Fei Fei Sun, Stella Tennant, Rianne Van Rompaey, Natalie Westling, Kiki Willems and Raquel Zimmermann.
